AAPI Advisory Board | Asian and Asian American Studies

The people-powered campaign of Make Us Visible-CT succeeded in passing an Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies requirement in Connecticut public schools. This much-needed change promises to make our state’s K-12 curriculum more inclusive and accurate, but we have a lot of work to do.

The Asian and Asian American Studies Institute is partnered with the State Department of Education to collaboratively build a new set of resources, lessons, and professional development pathways that create confidence and competence in teaching the global, national, and local dimensions of Asian American and Pacific Islander history, culture, and politics.

In order to guide and drive the work towards this goal, we are constituting a K-12 AAPI Advisory Board co-chaired by Gurmeet Singh and AAASI Director, Jason Chang.
