Stephen Armstrong

Stephen Armstrong is the Social Studies Consultant for the Connecticut State Department of Education. Stephen directed the team that wrote the Connecticut Social Studies Frameworks in 2014 and is involved in the revision of that document that is presently taking place. He is a past president of the National Council for the Social Studies, and is also a past president of the Connecticut Council of the Social Studies, the New England History Teachers Association, and the Connecticut Coalition for History. Steve has taught history and social studies at both the high school and college level; he presently works with student teachers at Central Connecticut State University. He has given many workshops on inquiry instruction in the classroom and on the use of music in social studies instruction.
