International Network Invites Margo Machida to Join Executive Committee

A Leading Authority on Contemporary Asian American Art and Visual Culture, AASI and Art History Professor, Margo Machida recently published UNSETTLED VISIONS (2009) with Duke University Press, which NYU
The International Network for Diasporic Asian Art Research (INDAAR) will facilitate opportunities for collaborative research projects and dialogues among researchers interested in comparative and transnational studies of diasporic Asian art. Membership will initially comprise scholars from Australia, Asia and the Pacific region, as well as selected scholars from the United States, with future plans to include colleagues from Britain and Canada.
As a founding member of the Executive Committee, Margo Machida will advise directly on the development of the network. A leading commentator on Asian American and Pacific diasporic art, she will be a key contributor in collaborative efforts to generate publications and convene scholarly conferences.
INDAAR is supported by the School of Communications and Arts at Edith Cowan University, Australia, with Dr. Dean Chan, as Founding Convenor. He is working on getting the website launched shortly. The International Network is a Special Project of the Asian Australian Studies Research Network, the outcome of the Discovery Project titled “Being Asian in Australia and the United States” that was funded by the Australian Research Council.
