Environmental Consciousness Conference — Kathryn Myers

Environmental Consciousness in Current Indian Art Conference January 2017Asian/Asian American Studies Institute and India Studies Affiliate Faculty Kathryn Myers (Professor of Art/Painting) has organized a National Seminar in Chennai, India on the topic of “Environmental Consciousness in Current Indian Art” that will take place on January 6-7, 2017

Professor Myers has been working on and off to organize this conference with Neeta Omprakash since 2011 and overcoming various obstacles, finding herself back on the Dakshinachitra Campus — the site of her 2002 Fulbright Fellowship — both fortuitous and rewarding.

She is honored to be reunited with the many artists she has worked with over the years. These include Deborah Thiagarajen (who has guest lectured at UConn), Benny Kuriakose, Nirupama Jayaraman, Shyju PJ, Krishnaraj Chonat, Asim Waqif, Veer Munshi, Charmi Gada Shah, Sandhya Bordawekar, Ravi Agarwal, Swetha Bhatad, Surekha, Parvathi Nayar, Preeti Joseph, Lina Vincent Sunish, and Maya Kovskaya.
